Intro

Hi everyone. I decided to start a blog about Classical Music concerts and recordings as I fear the mainstream media is no longer objective, fair and honest a lot of the time. Perhaps in the fear of dwindling audiences and drastic falls in the sale of classical CDs and DVDs, critics seem to be calling almost everything "wonderful" these days. Lang Lang has become the poster boy of classical piano which is very worrying indeed and Anna Netrebko is apparently the diva of the moment, even though her vocal technique leaves a lot to be desired. It would also seem as though truly "wonderful" artists like Bronfman, Ax, Zukerman, Fleming et al. need only show up to perform at certain venues and the reviews will automatically be glowing. I feel that it is a fair critic's vocation to educate the reader by trying to be as unbiased as possible. In this blog I will endeavor to do just that - I will try to evaluate performances and recordings by artists that I especially admire as well as by those whom I do not particularly like, as fairly as I can.
